Default Any suggestions for neck protection.

Well having ridden in sup freezing temperatures I can say that all of the holes that air can get in are quite obvious. I thought I had all things patched up until I realized that, DUH!, my neck was freezing.

Anyone have any suggestions for a neck warmer/wind breaker. I cant find much just googling around.

Ive heard of those tube thing's but they don't seem very warm.

Im looking in a price range of 15-20 bucks.

Perhaps im looking a bit too deep into this but will a scarf just work?

I like using one of these. Its just a fleece sleeve you can put around your neck.

I use a scarf to keep the wind out when it's cool outside. I just wrap it around and tuck the ends down the front of my jacket.

There are a lot of different neck warmers available from the tube type to ones that include a full face or head cover.

My balaclava is so long that I can tuck it into my shirt. Even my "7-11" mask from Wally World is long enough to tuck in.

I recommend 4 wheels and windows in sub freezing temps but when I just "have" to ride, my cotton skull mask (covers only the lower portion of my face) is long enough to tuck into my shirt and be covered by my coat

I bought a baclava for my wife at a local farm/ranch store. She gets cold easy, and claims it is just the perfect thing. I just use a larger bandana tied around my neck.

Yes, a long balaclava. I have the Harley 98201-04V. $25. It is worth every penny.

I like the Buff for cool weather.. they run around $20. I am not sure about sub freezing, i don't think they are thick enough. But they are versatile to pull up over your face, wrap your helmet hair in, etc.http://www.buffwear.com/

also some gear shops sell them. They are a nice high tech fabric that works for a variety of temps, but keep in mind I live in FLORIDA.

I use a neoprene ski mask that has a long enough neck it tucks into my jacket collar. That coupled with a good turtleneck shirt, the hands become the limiting factor.

I use a $5 fleece scarf I bought from WalMart, with the ends tucked in. Granted, I live in Texas so the weather generally isn't chilly enough to need anything more...but as of this Thursday I'll be living in NJ so I might consider other options if the scarf doesn't work well enough!

Hrmm so no problems with a scarf? Im also worried that a baclava will be too tight in my helmet. Thanks for the suggestions though ill def give them a look over.

I love my Arctiva balaclava. Expensive, but worth its weight in gold on cold mornings.

A good balaclava will probably keep you warmer than a scarf. I haven't had any problems wearing a scarf.

Grow a nice thick beard.....

It's the cheapest option.

I ONLY have a scarf, and it helps, but not enough on certain coldy-cold days.

I've ridden as low as 20 degrees and never had a need for neck protection, I suspect its the huge windshield

Dude I bought a knit beanie at Wal-Mart for $1. ONE STINKING DOLLAR! I cut the top off and it made a skin-tight scarf. No tail-ends flopping around, and it conforms to my face and neck. It looks pretty cool too before I put my helmet on, kinda like a ninja mask or something because I pull it up to my nose.

Got an old wool hat - cut the top off and volia! Instant neck warmer. But a balaclava would be better and not that much more $.

Balaclava, a neck warmer that came with my jacket, and about a month's worth of stubble as a base layer. But last I checked it was 5 degrees F with a high predicted of 15.
