My dad just picked up a 1981 Yamaha 650 Special, just over 10.8k on it and only 2 owners, who were apparently good friends.

Looks even cleaner in person

Also, I rode it before he ever did

WOW!! I wouldn't know where to start. I guess make sure runs well first then cosmetics. Have you been able to see how much work you are looking at?

It's been fun researching stuff. I will work on engine first and other related stuff before I do any cosmetics. The engine is not frozen, sofar I am looking at hoses, cables, carb de-gunking and a battery for now.

Its lookin a little different now but still got it roughed it up and went to Flat Black.
Oh and i lost a side cover, dammit.
Any one got a left side cover for sale?

Still waiting for parts to be delivered, also got an original Mechanics book coming in 2 days

Work has me real busy until wednesday next week, hope to fire the engine by mid nextweek.

Not right now But i will get some more current pics

It's in need of a few repairs which i am gonna do here soon.

Needs for seals, clutch starting to slip, rear brakes grinding , and the tail light , headlight and side cover.
