LOL, trust me they weren't that expensive....I like the look of chrome but not too much, thats all thats going on there...no chrome rims or anything else to add weight, plus its looks pretty slick I think

okay, so here is the new tail light!
IMG_0539.jpg
i opted to not add the resistors. i like the faster blink of the signals. the tail lights light up brightly when on, and nice and dark when off.

I like the lights, I was thinking of the same thing on my r1, but IM not the biggest fan of LED's in the tailights...wasn't too impressed with them on my gixxer

would you say that they were more, or less eye catching to other drivers?
i am curious because i havent used them before, and visibility is important to me. sometimes the aftermarket signals are too small, and hard to notice to be anything more than a means to pass a safety inspection... but these are quite bright. i just wonder if the fact that they are in the tail makes them harder to notice.

If they are done right, and are really bright, I like them....but the guy who owned my gixxer before me didn't have enough power going to them and it was hard to tell the difference from the tail light to the brake light

that could get sketchy in traffic... my first impression of the light is that it was a little cheesy, but the more i look at it the the more i like it.
sometimes when you get a used bike, you get to discover some of the dumb stuff the previous owner did. i for example; when i bought my yamaha i found a filthy dirty (probably never cleaned.) air filter, and a small crack in the front fairing that had been hot glued...

Hi Slim, those gen 2 bars are growing on me! How do you like the Jardine slip on? I have the GYT-R, came with the bike so I have nothing to compare it to except my buddies Muzzy on his ZRX1200. I like the sound.

Here are pics of my '05 FZ-1. That's my '83 Yamaha XJ550 Maxim behind the bbq. The guy I bought it from is buying it back for $500 more than what I payed for it. I've put some money into it. Now it's time to put some money into the new bike.

engie,
the rt one came with the bike. i have the original, but i havent used it at all. the rt sounds nice, not too loud, and the k&n filter added a little more growl. but those gen 2 bars have been the best thing yet! they even seem to make the front wheel come up more easily.
i do wish that i had the blacked out motor, and frame you do. it would look bitchin on all the other black. but oh well...

Slim, you definitely made the right decision. I liked the Z1000 when it first came out but in the end decided it had some funky aesthetic details that I didn't like. Also, the FZ-1 outperforms the Z1000 so what more could you ask for?

Crappy video but I've also read comparisons between the two bikes.
I was actually looking for a FZ-6 originally, I wasn't sure I wanted a liter bike after riding my little 550. I was looking for bikes on Craigslist and saw the FZ-1, it was close to home and the guy selling it was in a hurry for cash so I got it cheaper than I would have paid for a FZ-6 with the same miles on it. Damn, am I glad I bought the big one! If I ever decide to go to a smaller engine it will be and R6. It's all about performance now.

After having that 1000, I doubt you will want to go back to a 600

I'm sure you're right. When I ride my old bike I can't believe I rode that 550 for so many years. I've never ridden an R6, I'd like to give one a try. My FZ is totally new to me so it will be a while before I look to replace it.

best advice my old man gave me: never ride anything smaller than a 750. only my first bike was smaller: 1981 cm400e. my 2nd was a 1977 cb750k.
and again the gen 2 bars ROCK!!!

I've got no plans to go smaller. The only reason I think about the R6 is if I decided to go with an all out sportbike. But then why not just go with the R1?
I love my FZ, I'll be riding it for many years with a big smile on my face!

I've heard good things about the FZ1. I like the looks of the blue with blacked out motor and frame. Smoke that taillight and it will look hot. I want to get another bike, but am torn on my Bandit. The Bandit gives me a smile everytime I'm on it and it's 7 years old. The setup is like the Yamaha FZ's.

Isn't that what it's all about? It really doesn't matter what you ride if it puts a smile on your face. Of course, I used to smile when I rode my old 550, now the smile is a whole hell of a lot bigger!

I get that a lot . Seriously, that's the stock pipe -- I have a Roadhouse Brand Slipon which is thinner but really loud. I'm waiting to get a quiet baffle and then I'll put it back on. But there are days when I like loud so I'll do the swap here and there -- not a problem -- takes about 30 minutes to swap.
