I plan to throw in a Kawasaki ZX10r rear shock in later this year... maybe.

If you use the "Post Reply" option to this thread rather than the "Quick/Fast Reply", you'll get some attachment options below the "reply" field - "Additional Options > Attach Files > Manage Attachments.

But like Rex said, if you'd consider hosting (uploading) your pictures to some other site, like PhotoBucket or whatnot, that would save a lot of Forum-resources...

that's where the URL comes in. You host the picture(s) on another website, and then use the URL to the specific picture. That's 'embedding' that Rex was talking about.

If question the "legal-ness" (word?) because of the blue tint, it's not at all blue from the front... at least from my opinion. I'll try to take a pic of it when it's dark out and "shed some light on this" [/cheesy-ness]

if it's because of the location they're at... hm, i can't think of a reason why the LEO's would have a problem with it? But if something looks "illegal" about it, let me know what you think. I'll go look that puppy up

The only thing I can think of getting cited for is lack of the orange reflectors that used to be there. I took the posts that held the reflectors off and put the foglights there. The location is not weak at all. The foglights are at MOST 5oz or so. It's a plastic housing

Here's my '82 Suzuki GS550L. Just picked it up last fall from Craigslist, and spent the winter getting it ready for inspection, which it passed last week with compliments from the shop owner!
The first shot is what was posted in the ad, and the second pic is how it looks so far:

Thank you! Well, first of all that hideous fairing was hiding a lot of damage from a drop or crash by the previous owner. The headlight trim ring was scraped and gouged, so I ground it smooth and painted it black. The master cylinder was cracked where the lever attaches, and they drilled and tapped the casting and ran a screw through it to hold it all together! I replaced that with a good unit from ebay. The rear brake pedal was bent in, also replaced via ebay. They had the wiring to the turn signals all screwed up from when they installed the fairing, so I had to sort that out, along with replacing one of the signal assemblies. The fender was sitting too high in the front, so I enlarged the mounting holes to give it a little adjustment room. Most of the gauge lights were burned out, and the gauge mounting bracket was broken, rivited together, and was still bent. Also replaced via ebay! Tach and speedo cables needed lube. For my own peace of mind I replaced the original round mirrors with a set of larger rectangles.
Performance-wise; the plug wire ends were all corroded inside, and one of them was actually missing the spring above the resister! They all got replaced along with new plugs. The carbs were all clogged up, especially the screens above the float needles. So, the carbs got some new parts, seals,etc., and I had to clean a little rust from the tank. The rest of it involved a lot of cleaning. Looked like the bike was never cleaned. It looked worse in person than the picture showed!
Now the bike is strong, reliable, and looks pretty good on the street...

I just put this pic in a thread for someone trying to decide between a Vulcan and C-50. Guess this is where it really belongs so it will live forever!

2007 C-50c Gray and white with gold pinstriping. I added the National windshield and lowers, kuryakyn grips with throttle rocker and a helmet lock on each side, sissy bar and luggage rack and the Silver Stone saddle bags. I got it for my Wife's birthday last May and have just over 9,000 miles on it.

Actually the bike was her idea. She looked at a $950 gas bill and declared that she was considering putting me on a motorcycle. I didn't take her too seriously until the third time she said it. Then I penciled out that when you factored in the cost of the bike and extra insurance, it wouldn't save anything each month. All it would do is be a toy that would possibly pay for itself if I rode it enough. Can you believe it! I was trying to talk her out of it! But then I said if we got something over 750cc it would probably take us both up to Yosemite or over to the coast occasionally. That did it....WE got a bike ON her birthday for US. Kind of an accident that it was delivered that day, but it makes a good story. She's on that rear pavillion every weekend the temp is above 50 degrees! She keeps a diary of every ride and a folder where she plans the future rides.

P.S. Foto bucket drives me crazy! That second picture was the same size as the first one when I first posted it! I guess it takes a while for the changes to register.

Backwards or not....that a great looking bike

There should be arrows on the tire showing the direction of rotation. It's best to make sure they are not on backwards due to the possibility of tire failure. Tire failure can hurt on a bike.

Thank You!!! I was just about to say Jester's bike looks like it came right out of the showroom! I couldn't view the pics last night on my work computer, so I just got my first view today. Thanks for sharing, I like looking at the little differences between the model years.
My '82 is 4 years and 2k miles younger, but looks quite a bit rougher up close...(but I will fix that)

thanks guys! the bike really is in excellent condition. It's got 14k miles on it and aside from rear tire wear, you'd hardly notice it. I feel i got a fairly good deal on it picking it up for $1500. Not that its worth much more than that, but it was right in my price range and should make an excellent starting point for me.

have yet to ride it. its my first bike so i'll be starting niiiiiiiiice and easy.

yeah i'll have to check what the tire says for rotation. i'll probably be getting new ones anyway seeing as those are the original 1978 tires on it haha.

yeah the garage is next door to our shop (family owned auto shop). no one's using the space so the landlord lets us store some vehicles there (SL, Jag, Boat, Bike as of right now). very clean garage too. there may be a few tire marks there from my 525i though

i also just realized i typed "front tires" instead of "front tire"

gonna have to get used to this 2 wheels thing

Almost the same for me, except it is my first bike in 20 years. I wasn't ready to test ride the day the seller delivered it to me, so I didn't find most of the "hidden" flaws until a few weeks after. But I guess that's to be expected when the ad says "excellent condition" and the price is $700 obo.

Not mine but I did take this 1982 Katana 1100 out for a test ride a couple of weekends ago:





I was all set to buy it until I found out that it isn't yet eligible for collector's insurance (must be 30 years old) so I'd be charged for the cc's to the tune of $1400 a year! I couldn't swallow that so I had to pass.

Awesome bike though, I loved the low end grunt of the old 1100.

wow! is that $1400 in state registration fees? how much would it be if it were collectors?

Nope, $1400 a year for insurance (and just basic insurance at that). Provincial license plate sticker is only about $26 a year.

I don't know what it would cost to insure under a collector's policy but for reference I pay $210 a year for full coverage of my 1972 Porsche 911 Targa ($20K appraised value) through a collector's automobile plan. I bet it'd be not much more for a bike.
