Find gear that fits. That's pretty much all there is to it. A full-face helmet provides superior protection versus other types of helmets. Leather jackets provide the best abrasion resistance, though some of the textile jackets can be just as good. Also look for jackets with body armor built in. As for gloves, I like leather gloves with knuckle armor. Don't forget a good pair of boots (sturdy work boots are fine, but you can get some MC boots if you wish).
The main thing is finding gear that is comfortable. If you need any specific info, then ask a more specific question. ![]()

Doh, I can't believe I forgot. www.Newenough.com is a great place, too. Motorcycle-superstore is good, but their shipping was slow.

with a 1000.00 budget you should not have trouble getting all your gear.
newenough is fine for most gear but when it comes to a helmet go somewhere that you can try several on. and wear it around in the store for 30 minutes to make sure it is comphy. helmets vary with different brands and even different models of the same brand. buy the best one you can afford and just make sure it fits and is comfortable, because if it is not you wont wear it. |

I just bought another jacket from powersportsequipment.com. They had the jacket I was looking at for about $20-25 cheaper than newenough.com and both offered free shipping. I almost wrecked last week from a Rent-A-Center truck pulling out in front of me last week. I was only wearing a mesh jacket last week, so I went ahead and opted to get a jacket with more protection. I also am gonna attempt to ride year round and my current jacket lets a lot of wind through, even with the liner in, because it's built for warmer weather. I had to spend $430 on a Joe Rocket Speedmaster 5.0 jacket that offered warmth, protection, and air circulation for the warmer weather. Hopefully it will work out for me, because it sure is expensive. It's roughly in the 50's in the mornings and in the low 70's when I get off from work and a cool breeze goes right up my sleeves and I get cold. This new jacket comes with I'm hoping a full insulated and windproof liner not just the vest. I should have it by next week some time.

newenough.com has a one piece leather racing suit right now for like $250, get a $150 HJC helmet and some $75 gauntlet gloves and you'll be good to go
![]() oh, and some boots too In fact, if HJC helmets fit you, they have CL-15's in the bargain basement right now for $69. I just ordered on last night ![]() |

The helmet i've been using is a HJC from Motorcyclesuperstore. It fits great, plenty comfortable (for me) and it too was in the bargain area. I definately recommend a full face helmet it makes the difference in the wind dramatically.
