I am looking for advice. I am told that the knobby tire I have on the front of my TC100 is good for dry weather, not wet, due to the small amount of rubber that actually meets the road. This makes sense and since I live in a rainy city I'd like the best possible tire for riding in the rain. Does anyone here have any experience with this? Thanks!

I'm not sure about the tire but the reason you gave, in my opinion, is not a good one. On wet surface it's not the amount of rubber contacting the ground but how it's built to prevent hydroplanning, that's why street tires have treads and race tires don't. Anyone else got different opinions?

i don't think knobbies are considered "treads", but i would think they make a dual sport tire that is good in all weather.

Off road tyres are ok on roads its up to the rider to learn to ride safely and within the conditions not how good or bad the tyre is

Among the tires that are designed to handle safely in the rain, which is the best (in your opinions). Thanks! |

I have Avon Storms and have liked them. But they are not suited in the least bit for going trails or off road. I'd go with redneck_punk for googling up something in a dual sport tire. It's gonna be a specialty tire that is some road and some dirt. Someone in 'Dual Sport' forum will know - if no one speaks up here. Something like what the V-stroms and BMW ADV bikes are wearing.

The tire on the front says 2.75 - 19. However, all the tires I see online are like 80/80 or 90/90. I like the look of the Avon Gripster but I am not sure if they come in the size I need...
