hello all. I'm in a bit of a crisis...I have been saving for a little bit over a year for a bike and now I have enough. I have been riding and racing motocross and quads for about 9 years now so I now how to ride, but I realize a sportbike is a whole new kind of animal. I've ridden a couple of my friends sportbikes as well. My problem is that I don't touch the ground.....AT ALL. Someone always has to sit on the back so when I stop the bike doesn't fall over
. I am only 4'11 and even when I used to race I had to stand on 2x6 blocks just to balance the bike on the line. I feel like it mite be important to touch the ground (even if its just the balls of my feet) so I can properly stop at lights or in traffic. Anyway, I hope someone can offer some advice as to what kind of bike I should get or if there are any lowering kits I should look into, I really don't want anything over a 600. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanx!! ![]() |

What is your inseam with your ride boots on? Do you have a problem butt sliding on the bike at a stop (without the blocks)?

You might be severely limited in your choice of bikes. Even a Ninja 250 has a seat height of 30 inches or so, I believe. You might have to look at some of the cruisers. The seat height of a Suzuki GZ250 is just under 28 inches.

i can stop fine without blocks i just cant put both feet on the ground, I can lean and have done that on my friend's GSXR 600... my inseam is 28-29 inches if that. Do you know of any lowering kits or suspension tweaks or anything I could do?

![]() They are lowering links. These happen to be for a GSXR1000 but they are available for most sport bikes. You can lower the rear of the bike up to 2 inches. They do change the way the bike handles though. Depending on the model of the bike the front can be lowered without getting into the suspension internals by sliding the fork tubes up in the triple clamps. I am going to have to do this to my wifes bike when we get it. She also wants a 600cc sporty. She's leaning toward the GSXR600 because ergonomicaly it fits her better than the R6, ZX6, and the CBR. |
