Where is the fuel mixture screw on the Yamaha V Star 650? I am having an issue where I am getting a lot of popping while decelerating and heard that it may be a fuel mixture problem. Would disabling the AIS also help this problem? It does have aftermarket pipes but they were put on by the owner before me so I dont know if he rejet the carbs. I would rather not spend 400 bucks if this is not the problem so I want to try the fuel mixture screw and disabling the AIS first.

The fuel mixture screws on your 650 are plugged, unless they were drilled out by the previous owner. If you look under the tank on the left side of the bike you will see your float bowls. The mixture screws are under the float bowls on the engine side of the carbs. If you have aftermarket pipes and the bike is popping on deceleration, adjusting the mixture screws may help but probably not enough to eliminate the problem. It's probably going to take some more in depth carb adjusting to completely get rid of the "popping".
What are you refering to when you say AIS???? |

AIS = Air induction system...People have had great results disconnecting it when they installed aftermarket pipes.
