I was wondering what kind of Lube, preventative maintanance I should be doing to take care of my chain. Also what is the proper way to lube a chain

Is that a GSXR? I'd lubricate the chain every few hundred miles. You can get a spray lube with a little extension thingie, put the bike up on a rear stand if you have one, or if not have a friend slowly roll it forward while you spray it in the links. The orange one is a katana 600, the other is a gsxr 600

This lube was recommended by a friend for my son's Suzuki:

This may sound dumb but is it possible to actually overlube the bike, or is it safe to go with more than less

You can use old engine oil to lube any chain and its a lot cheaper than so called chain lubes
