Default First bike blues

Well. i have wanted a motorcycle since i was 17. I'm now nearly 21 and still no bike for the last 2 years i was like this is the year i buy a bike, the years came and gone. now this is the year for the bike i have the helmet the gloves. but no jacket(having a hard time finding what i like for a price i like) but this is not the reason for the thread. I have been looking for a bike for months now i finally have the money and it seems to be that I'm always one step away from getting the bike i want. now I'm looking for a bike in an interesting group and that is the 1980s cruiser type bikes in 550 to 750 CC bikes. and I'm always having the bikes bought out from under me. so I'm starting this thread for other guys to tell about there hardships on getting a first bike. if this thread is against the rules mods please delete

Feel your pain. I'd been looking at a sweet Kawi 800. Had a rider friend lined up to give it a test ride to look for any issues while I was out of town on a business trip. Returned to find it had sold. I spent alot of time researching that bike for reliability issues and upgrades...well, on the the next one. I'm now looking at a 500............

i really feel your pain. i called a guy 2 days ago about a ninja 500 and he told me that the earliest he can show it to me is the next day at 2pm. so at exactly 2 pm i was there (about a 30 minute ride). pull up to the house, call him and he says he was home in the mornin and somebody came and bought it.

i got pissed at first but then that night i found an awesome ninja 250. called up the guy right away. he said hes got 2 ppl coming the next day. i didnt skip a heartbeat, got into my car and drove there last night. before anybody was able to see the bike i put a deposit down. the people who were gona see the bike today are gona be a lil pissed. lol. well at least i got a bike.

i guess that if u really like it, go check it out and buy it right away. dont wait for long or it will be gone pretty fast

By no means am i waiting to long. a bike gets out on the classifieds I'm there with a rider for a test ride. usually the same day or the day after. but this last week i drove a half hour with my rider found the perfect bike in awsome condition and a price that no one could agure with. and there as a guy there that offered 600 for a easily worth 1500 dollar bike the guy only wanted 850 for it. then me and my rider left said we would call him back tonight probally and drove around that small farm town this guy lived in for 30 minutes in 30 minutes that cheap SOB that only offered 600 talked his what up to 700. and the bike was gone. the best part of this story is i call the guy the next day ask him if he still had the bike and he said he sold it i ask how much it went for he said 700 and i said i would have paid 850 for it. the guy wished me a good evening and promptly hung up the phone. lol

I know you said you're looking in the classifieds . . . but have you tried Ebay? You can usually get some great deals, and there's a lot of selection. It may be a way to find what you are looking for. They have gear and other stuff too.

i took care of the gear problem on newenough.com but i dont like the ebay idea because of shipping concerns and not being able to test ride that bike that jsut dosnt sit well with me. they say a picture is worth 1000 words but looking at a bike in person is so much better.
