Hi all,
My other post had to be moved to the appropriate section so let me try again and provide some info about me and how I got to riding. Last year my wife and I were on vacation in Colorado. We visited family members that ride and have a number of bikes. I used to live in Europe and rode a moped to college, which is no more than 49cc. While in CO I got to play on their 125cc dirtbike. I rode around on their land and at their campground. Learned to shift, lean etc. Quickly got the hang of it and loved it. Made my wife try it too. We decided to take the MSF course together and we did. I took to it real quick and easy and my wife did well too. Those were the 250cc bikes. Now probably half a year later we have moved to CO and have not touched a bike since the class. We have our CO licenses now and we needed another vehicle so I chose the bike I'm getting tomorrow. It's a Team Yamaha Blue 2006 Yamaha YZF R6 with less than 1200 miles. I testrode it last saturday and it was surprisingly easy. I got on it and took the course through the neighborhood that the dealer told me to take. It was awesome. I got lost too and then found my way back to the shop. They were all worried that something happened and one of them actually came looking for me but I got back on my own just fine. Just sat at a red light that just wouldn't turn green. So I 180'd and found another way back. I did stall it a few times. Too little gas I'm sure. Another thing I noticed is that the rear wheel eaily locks up with little pressure on the brake. Hope I'll get used to that. Anyway. As little time as I've spent on two powerful wheels, I love it. I realize I have a lot to learn and I am aware of alot of advice already given. One thing I will do is ride with experienced riders and learn from them. Hopefully I'll last a long time that way ![]() |
