STEIN75,
I check out Ebay regularly and see side panels all the time. Most of them are for the 650 but they are the same size. I'd simply remove the 650 part of the label. You can expect to pay anywhere from 35 to 60 dollars for each panel plus shipping. Ain't cheap!!! I also have a 550 and love it!! I've got a lot of extra parts I've bought but not what you need!!! Go Figure!!!!!!!! CD |

I had to buy one for my 1100 Virago once back before the days of Ebay. I believe I paid $65 for it and the little emblem so if you can get one off Ebay for less than that you're doing good.

If you get a side panel and you want to be a purist about the label, you can still find them but get ready for STICKER SHOCK!!
The last I saw (yesterday) ran about 80.00 for the set. OOOuch!!! CD |

The right side panel is the one most frequently lost because it is most frequently removed. It is the battery cover.
They come up on ebay every once in a while... you just have to be vigilant... or check the boneyard that thomjenson recommended.

Does anyone have a link to motorcycle junkyards? I have a hard time believing that there are only four in my state, as a Google search seems to indicate.
I've been looking for side panels for my bike this morning, it's amazing how difficult it is to find them! |

The side covers are not the same 550 to 650. I remember, I rode both as demos in 83 and 84.
Try Lehman's Big Open Road, he got a few semi trailer loads of old 70s/80s bikes.

This one needs some work, but you will be bidding against someone else who needs one... good luck!

Good point. I need to look closer at stuff... but hey, I was bored out of my mind with no bike to ride at that instant. Bike's in pieces with a broken shifter return spring.
