There really isn't any kind of reliability issue across any of those manufacturers. That is interesting to see all of these in a side by side number crunch. The one thing I feel is worth mention is that any of the harley lines hold their value for a long time, where as the others not as well.

My primo choice as far as these go would be the softail deluxe or the S-83 (1350cc by the way) but for the region of the country I live in the big bore harley is a big chunk of change to drop on a seasonal vehicle the other isn't peanuts but still I feel the burn in my wallet just thinking about it.

Chuch, I had to look at where you are, because here in Missouri, you can get a sportster pretty cheap, much cheaper than what you quoted. Also, there is a big difference between a C90 and a C90T. The "T" has a windshield with lowers, saddle bags, and a passenger backrest. So, you can't merely quote a C90. I bought my "T" for $9,850.
I guess my point is that unless someone is buying in your area, the prices don't apply. But, as you say, I hope your efforts help someone! ![]() |

Two things a person might also consider along with all the things you all have mentioned is horse power and durability (reliability).
I don't want to start any wars so I won't name brands, but reliability (upkeep, break down history, and parts replacement cost) is a necessary consideration. I also like to compare HP. I think 'out-of-the-box HP' stats are important. Why buy a ride that is in a similar price range MC class, but is under powered from the gitgo. And, if one must add those loud pipes & rejet and do other 'performance improvements' at additional cost, well you get the point. CC's and horse power are important if you do certain kinds of riding. They are important to me because I like to do long distance rides and to have dependable power there when I need it. I ride for GO, for others that ride for SHOW these two factors likely don't matter. Ride safe & long, Colorado Fats |
