Default new rider looking for bike

New rider, looking for a bike that works for me. I've been using a friend's 1981 750 Virago and like it, but it's unreliable and has frequent mechanical problems. Can't spend a fortune and have certain limitations -- I'm 5'3" and not remarkably strong.

Love Yamaha and would like to stick with the brand but am open to suggestions. Power doesn't worry me because I can always slow down, but height and weight as well as performance is important. Thanks for any advice/input you can offer!

How about the V-Star 650 if you want to buy new? Or the Virago 750? Or the Virago 535?

Default 650

Yamaha v-star 650 is an awsome motorcycle. Has shaft drive for smooth ride, and air cooled so is lighter than some competitors that would be liquid cooled.
