My neighbor and his wife went. They trailered their bike along with another couple from the local HD Hog Chapter. They purposely went a week early so they could leave about the time it started. Suposedly, all the cool roads & places to ride start looking like parking lots. Personally, I wouldn't want to ride up to Mt. Rushmore at the same time with 500.000 other bikes either.

We were there for the tail end of it last year, but not on the bikes, we just went out on vacation. The thing most people don't realize is that it's not just Sturgis, it covers an area about 100 miles in diameter. A lot of the wild stuff is in Sturgis itself, but you can stay in places like Custer or Hill City and it's a much more mellow experience. It is impressive to see all those bikes heading out the Interstate on the way home.
Eat at the Alpine Inn in Hill City, best steaks and desserts in the state. Get there early, a 9 oz Filet is $11. Last edited by Uesque; 08-06-2007 at 10:07 AM.. |

If anyone needs their bike transported from the east coast to Sturgis, I know a GREAT hauling firm. Just look up Old School Motorcycle Transport on Google. Then check out their rig. Very impressive.
