Default Help finding a bike

Hi guys, I really want to get my first bike, I want a semi old one though. 1970's or higher. I'm looking to spend around $500 dollars on the bike. I want it to run, but it can have some cosmetic damage that I can fix myself. Can someone help me? It would be very appreciated if the bike was around Georgia(the states around it aswell.)

At least in my experience in my area of the country (New England) it's pretty rare to find a bike for that price range which is a runner. I buy and build a lot of project bikes, and that's usually my price range for a non-running rebuild candidate.

You may indeed find something running for that price, but personally I would be prepared to do SOME work to it to make it run OK. (Carbs, tune-up, etc.)

Good luck!

Pretty much what he said is true for my are in the country as well (Midwest "flyover" country).

In fact, the last $500 bike I picked up was a '00 Katana with no body and wiring issues. Got it back on the road as a "streetfighter" for ~600 more. So be prepared to spend some dosh. ~$1000 is more likely to get you a decent runner.

I concur: About $1k for a decent-running bike. The lower you go the more you're rolling the dice.

I just bought three 1960s Yamahas all from the same guy. All were sub-$1,000. He had about 10 other bikes. All three are running very decently and in decent cosmetic shape. All are complete, but will be gone through and hopefully restored properly.
