Default honda xl 350 motor

i have a motor that i'm fixing and theres oil in the points any idea why?

There shouldn't be any oil in the points. If it's in there, you have a leak.

Without being there to inspect it, it's hard to say. Since the points are located up near the top of the engine, I would suspect the valve cover first.

The best way to find the leak is to clean any oil off the engine, start it up, then carefully inspect for leaks.
