Default 1984 V65 Sabre Elecrical

Hello all,

I recently obtained a V65 1100 Sabre. It starts with a little choke, warms up and the I go to ride and it almost instantly stalls, then wont even try to start when pushing the ignition button. The previous owner stated he had just put a new throtle on. The entire throttle assembly (kill swith, ignition button, throttle) rotates on the handlebar. I was able to make the headlight go on of as well as the ignition engage by moving the throtle assembly while pushing the start button. Once started, idling and ready to ride it died again as soon as I engaged the throttle( and the assembly moved). Is something grounding/shorting out due to the assembly moving? Is this the best forum for this question? Thanks for your time!

Sounds like he borked the wiring.

I'd disassemble the throttle assemble and inspect all the wires. I'd also remove the headlight and fuse/relay box and inspect all of the wiring in that area.

Thx, I am totally lost! Something is killing the bike instantly when the throttle assembly moves.

Here's a big hint: The kill switch is located on that assembly. Check the connections and the insulation on the wires for that switch
