Default 1964 Yamaha YG1 restore

I am restoring my 1964 Yamaha YG1 80cc and can not find anywhere on the web how much and what kind of oil I need to put in the crankcase. The plug does not have a dip stick and there is no sight glass. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Tink

Tink, I don't have an answer to your questions. But you can order for $9.95 an owner's/service manual from these guys that has the information you're looking for.

Thanks BlueThunder, will have to order the manual.

I disagree with the idea that you can find anything on the internet, I have looked for the info for a long time and never found a thing, other than offers to sell me a manual.....lol.

The YG-1 was my first motorcycle. It's also the first engine I ever rebuilt! I bought it for $25 in 1975. I was 15 years old.
As I recall, I used to run 40 weight oil in the transmission. Just fill it about half way and you should be good to go. I'm assuming you're aware that the engine oil is mixed with the gas since it's a two stroke.
Have fun with that old girl!

Came across this a bit late but Tink if you have any idea on where I could get a colored wiring diagram it would help. I have a 65 yg1k that is perfect mechanically and has been in a garage since 1968 (still has the tags). I have to get a CHP inspection at the police station and I dont think it has a brake light, it also doesnt have right or left blinkers. Could you confirm? It runs great I just cant get it street legal

If you are resorting an old bike do yourself a favor and get a Clymers book for your model. It will give you all the info you need.
