Default Need help please

Hey i am needing help also. I'm new to the site. I just got a 2003 Xtreme Montana. The only problem is it will not start unless you push it off. There is a new battery in it. My friend showed me a black box size 3"x4" and said it had something to do with the firing of the bike. He hit it a couple times with a screwdriver and the bike started, but now it will not even start to that much. I would love to get this running. It's my first bike and i figure i would start off cheap. Only paid 200 for it. But PLEASE HELP ME. Thanks so much fireman1922 (Joseph)

I am not familiar with the bike, but when my bike went I immediately noticed it was not igniting. Check spark plugs and fuses first...

Will it still push start? If so, the battery connections or cables may be bad, causing too much voltage drop when starting normally. In any case, make sure the battery cables and terminals are clean, wipe them with silicone grease after connecting them. Then check the other ends, especially the ground; often, there will be corrosion, or the surface wasn't cleaned enough before bolting it to the frame.

It seems like a good place to start is figuring out what the black box was, lol.. and why it started when tapped. Maybe it houses wires, and the wires are loose?

sounds like in the box was connections and the wires were loose. strip it if you can to make sure all connections are tight and look to see if anything is loose or not were its suppose to be.
if its a sealed unit look for the part on google let us know what it is

The black box is the electronic ignition, which has connectors. Unplug, clean, and add dielectric (silicone) grease, then reconnect any and all of them, when you check the battery terminals. If it was hit hard enough, the internal solder joints could now be cracked (if they weren't already).

It may be difficult to find a manual (or even parts) for this bike. As posted earlier, check the connections first. You might be able to contact the importer for parts if needed.
