Default '95 Ninja 250r gas leak

Just bought a 1995 Ninja 250r yesterday that seemed to be in great shape.
This morning I go into the garage and theres a puddle of gas underneath.
I pulled it out to the driveway and went home about an hour ago to check it out. It is very slowly dripping gas one drip at a time. It looks like its coming from the petcock. Ive talked to a few people about it, they advised me that it is highly unlikely for the petcock to leak. I looked down underneath and it will be hard to explain but the valve (or at least what I think is the valve where the small tubes come out of behind the switch to turn the gas to on off or res seems to be where the gas is coming from. It drips off that onto the tubes and down onto the ground.

If thats not where its coming from I wouldnt know how to check to see where it really is coming from. Should I take off the fuel tank, remove all the fairings, and then take a look?

Looking forward to getting your advice. Thanks!

Did you have the petcock turned to "Off" while the bike was parked?

Petcocks can leak, but it's most likely that a float valve is not sealing like it should and the carbs are overflowing.

Before trying to start your bike, CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL to be sure that the engine isn't full of gas!

You could also have a leaky fuel line, which should be replaced before riding the bike if that's the case.

The petcock on my '94 leaked. The o-ring under the control knob was broken. Took it apart & replaced - good as new.
