The South has again been hit with some severe weather. The other day Vilonia AR was devastated by a tornado; today Tuscaloosa and Birmingham were hit. Those storms are headed northeast, right for my area. Whatever y'all are doing, stop for a moment and - even if you aren't religious - say a quick prayer for those who have already been affected by these storms, as well as those who anticipate being affected by them. And if you are in the areas affected (or soon to be affected), know that there are many of us who are praying for your safety and the safety of your families and friends.
This is a video of the Tuscaloosa twister, taken by Alabama weather chasers:
It's amazing how something can be so beautiful yet, at the same time, so deadly...

My family's farm in Benwheeler Tx got hit by a tornado this week, luckily no serious damage but that hits home. I read today that 31 people died in the latest round of storms thats hit the south. RIP to everyone and my prayers go out to all.

While tornadoes are fun to watch from a safe distance it is hard to imagine the destruction they can unleash.
Prayers go out to all those affected. |

I just saw on the news that there are at least 173 dead in Alabama.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.

We sat on our back porch and watched the big one hit Moore. We had no idea how big it was we weren't getting any rain 10 miles away.

I think the count is over 200 now
Said a prayer for those affected by them. I hope I never see one!! At least with hurricanes we have a few days warning to get our things and get out

The storms narrowly missed Starkville, MS, going just north and south of us. Tuscaloosa is about an hour away, Birmingham about 1 1/2 hours or so. Scary stuff. I'm supposed to head back home to WV next week, but I might have to reroute so I don't go through Tuscaloosa. I'm sure its going to be a madhouse there for a few weeks.

Most areas can get cleaned up within a week or two, it is the rebuilding part that takes the longest I believe. If it is 2 weeks away you may be okay.
My boss' parents got hit and everything except their house was destroyed (their hose still lost half it's roof but not completely flattened) Some serious storms all over the place in the apst few weeks!

Prayers sent yesterday and again this morning... how devastating.
It woke me at 4AM this morning, the wind was so loud, I took the dog downstairs and into the walk in closet....until it settled, no alarms but I haven't heard it that loud in a long time. I was a camp counselor when we got hit by one many years ago....it sounded the same way....power stayed on but north of us many were without electricity....

I'm in California but my grandson is stationed at Fort Jackson SC right now. My heart and prayers go out to all that have bee affected by these storms.
It is going to take a long time for many of those people to get their lives back together, we need to continue to remember them even after the storms subside. |
