Default Yamaha Stryker!

While waiting for MntShadow's tire to get mounted, we did some window shopping around the showroom floor. One bike in particular stood out...

Anybody checked one of these out yet? This could possibly be my second bike, provided employment opportunities work out the way I'm hoping. Really dig the wheels and the blacked out pipes, especially with the chrome tips. Very modern looking bike all around, no retro styling here. The salesman seemed pretty keen on talking me into trading my Ninja in. That won't happen, but it certainly looks nice.

Any thoughts? Anyone taken a test ride?

Ha! I just started a thread on this bike too ("*Sigh*...I want a cruiser")...I haven't seen one in person, but I really want one. Going to Ft. Worth today, gonna stop by the local Yammy dealer and see if they have one in stock to sit on...

Dunno where you're located, but check out this ad for a Greenville, TX dealer...You'll notice Stryker is in there too. Cost plus taxes? No prep, no freight? Thats a motivated seller...

Haha, I did see that thread and had no idea it was about the Stryker.

If you end up taking a test ride, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Just did my taxes today and had a really rude awakening. I wont be getting any more toys for a long, long time. In fact, if I were a smart man, I'd sell my Ninja and get out from under the 250 bucks a month its costing me between the payment and insurance. I'm actually probably about to go put a bunch of guns up for sale too now...The Stryker is now just a pipe dream for me...

Sorry to hear about the taxes not going your way. If you have a 38 hammerless revolver I think you should sell that one to me Hope everything turns out ok for ya. That is a sharp looking bike! I'll have to take a look around here and see what they have.

Sorry, no pistols in .38. I've sold off most of my pistols already...starting on the rifles now. I can't stand seeing my guns dwindle down like this, but I haven't had the money for ammo in quite awhile, so I haven't been to the range in over a year! Its either sell some stuff or find a better job to make more money and believe me, I've been looking...

I just feel lucky to have my Ninja at this point...

Not so much to stay afloat, but to pay off debt. Me and my wife are aggressively paying off as much debt as possible. No eating out, keeping the heat on 67, no frivilous spending, etc. Ever heard of Dave Ramsey...yeah, we're doing something similar...I was tired of being broke, then I lost my job and now I'm making 7k less per year. I realized we just have too much debt. Maybe in 2016 I can get a used Stryker...LOL.

A friend of mine bought a Raider last year. The stryker is the replacement for that bike. The raider is a very nice bike and the stryker is supposed to be better.

yamahas 5 speed appear to be built ford tough! the ratios arent totally goofy though like on some 6 speeds, 4th and 5th are like overdrive anyway.

the rake on that stryker looks like itd be a handful at slow speeds

They are two different bikes in Yamaha's line up, neither a replacement for the other. The Raider is a bigger displacement bike with more features and a few thousands bucks more to buy. The Styker is a lower cost bike, with smaller engine and less fancy parts. Kinda like a Dyna to a Sportster in HD's line.

Talking Stryker

I have had mine for a month and waiting on some aftermarket mods to come available. Does anyone know if any sites carry parts yet for this new of a model?

I've read it handles slow speeds nicely actually.

I was watching this on Youtube and yes..it is a very sweet machine. Starting out with an MSRP of around $10,999, it cost about $5000 less than a harley.

I saw one in MA last week. It was at the Shoppers World in Natick

I gotta tell ya, a lot of people walking by it and checking it out.

Lots of chrome, the black/metal combo is just awesome.

I was wondering what it was because it had no markings on it... I think the owner took it off...?

It's also about $19,000 less than a Harley. Or about $4000 more than a Harley. Depends which Harley you are comparing it too. The closest in comparison would probably be the the Super Glide and Street Bob, at $2000 more. But these bikes compare more to the Yamaha Raider once you look at the specification. Perhaps a Sportster 1200 Custom is the closest to the Stryker, as it's engine is similar size, and also with a big 21" wheel. The Sporty is $700 cheaper.
