Unhappy fuel pump relay 2004 r1150rs

I was out for a nice ride today in the 77deg weather we've been blessed with, when suddenly my bike burbled, then shut off. Crank, crank, crank , but no start. I got it home (with the help of a trailer) and have diagnosed a "no fuel" situtation. Before I pull the tank and go after the fuel pump, does anyone know which relay in the fuse box is for the fuel pump?? Both the riders manual and the Clymer service manual are useless. HELP!!! The ones in there are 3,4, and 5 prong, and different colors, if that helps.

Talking found the relay

Using the colored wiring schematic, and tracing the wires, I found the center 4 prong relay to be the one for the fuel pump. I tested it and as suspected, it was bad. A quick trip to Advance Auto, and I matched a 30 amp 4 prong unit for $4.95 . Thinking I surely had the problem licked, I popped it in and NOTHING! I disconnected the tank plug, located the brown and green wires (fuel pump) and had good power there, but still no pump action. So I yanked the tank, opened her up and took out the pump/filter/sending unit plate. I removed the pump and hit her with 12V...Still nothing. So now I got a bad pump, right? Not quite. After blowing out what appeard to be some dirt, the thing started wizzing and shootin fuel all over the wall! Maybe a fluke? I shook it around some, still worked. blew some more air through it, still worked. Reassembled it back on the plate, still worked. reassembled the plate back in the tank, yup...still working! Tank back on the bike , a few gals of petrol, and Bam...she fired into life! I been around the block a few times, started and stopped it a few dozen more....still pumping. How odd is that? So one afternoon of wrenching and a $5 relay...and its off to the races. I'll keep you all posted.

Default Fuel Issue

Same deal, had electric, motor died. Ended up being clogged fuel filter. Relay blew to save fuel pump. Wasn't savy enough to figure generic relay. New O-ring gaskets, fuel filter, and relay, $65.89 at local BMW shop. My labor.

You would be suprised what you can interchange with "generic" parts....even name brand if you know where to look. I was looking to change out my fuel injectors...60k miles, ethanol fuel, and the bike had developed a weird "power surge/vibration" that would come and go at different rpms, while cruising. Injectors from BMW were prohibitive, so a little serching on -line and I find this guy called "Motor-Man" who deals with nothing else but fuel injectors. I shoot him the part # and score two brand new bosch injectors for $49.00 each!
Now she runs like new...surge and vibration is totally gone.
