Default My vintage bikes.....

I recently added one so now Im up to 6 bikes that are over 25 years old.....I love the vintage bikes.....4 of these are older then me.

My first bike.....a 1980 kZ1000.....which is the year I was born.

This is a 1981 KZ440. It was a side specimen so dont feel bad that its been sacrificed to make this rat bobber.

Got an old dirt bike I ride around on the gravel with....1978 Suzuki DR370.

This is the bike I put the most miles on....1984 Honda GL1200.

This started as a ragged out 1975 CB400F.

The last is my latest find. This thing was setting at the local shop and I lusted after it for 6+ months. Problem was I didnt have the spare cash but most importantly didnt have the space. So I sacrificed a much newer bike that I hardly rode for the money....and its spot in the garage. Goodbye 2000 Kawasaki ZX6e.......and welcome home to a 1975 Honda CB550. They paint is faded but I still love this color.

My last bike is actually fairly new at 1997.....but it looks and acts 4x its age so it may be worthy. 1997 Ural Deco Classic.

Just seems the older bikes do something for me. Ive got a few new bikes but I dont much care to ride them......Im sure there are others that are the same.

Cool bikes. My only old bike is a '76 Kawasaki KZ750B. I particularly like the first two, but all of them are rad looking. Is the Ural reliable? I was thinking of one, but I know of someone with one, and it breaks down on every run it is brought out on, the only good thing is that its owner has good mechanical skills, only wish he'd use them to maintain his bike properly (I'm sort of answering my question, poorly maintained bikes aren't reliable, well maintained ones are).

Mines been fine.....only needed some minor adjusting and such from the previous owner. Did have the ignition go bad but my particular year is notorious for that.....got a newer style straight from the Ukraine....everything electrical and ignition related on the whole bike (from coil, CDI, trigger assy etc) for $40......just had to wait a month.

I ride it quite often....just that one problem. You just cant be in a hurry with the thing....its not made to go fast.....you have to ride at ITS pace....not the other way around.

Beautiful bikes. My vintage collection is at 2 so far... 1972 Honda CL350 and 1974 Suzuki GT550. Next one I do will be an old beemer for my dad, or an old two stroke cafe racer. One of the two.

I would love to have an old 2 stroke like your GT550......but they are so hard to find not all ragged out. Ive been wanting a Yamaha RD but now that you mention it (and I read more about it) I think the Suzuki GT550 would be a better find for me. (Ive got 2 Kaws, 3 Hondas, 1 Yamaha and NO Suzuki road bikes....all my Suz's are off-road).

Nice collection.
IMHO, the bobber would have gone before the 6.

Its a 1975. Runs like a top! Starts up right away and you would think its a brand new engine!

Default Old bikes

I like the old bikes so much that after my 25 year sabbatical, I went on eBay and bought one like I had before the kids started arriving, A Honda CB900F. Have always been partial to the Honda 4-bangers. I currently ride an 83 Honda CB1100F. It's basically stock with the exception of Vance & Hines exhaust, 600 coils, Accel wires, K&N filter in the stock airbox. The clutch has been modified to eliminate the "grabbies". The bikini fairing has been removed for the more naked look utilizing Tomaselli headlight bracket, an after market chrome headlight and an addition of a 139 decibel horn system. I no longer sound like the road runner. I'll post some pictures once I get off my lazy butt and learn how to.

really cool, I think having a nice vintage collection of a few bikes would be more fun then having one nice new one cause sooner or later most want another bike to ride.
