Adjusting valves?

Just in general, say if I were to get a v-star 650, how difficult would it be to learn to adjust the valves? Assuming some competence about tools and in understaning the way things work but limited mechanical experience.

Your 650 has screw and lock nut lash adjusters which are pretty straight forward when it comes to adjustments. Get a manual to read up on the procedure and learn the timing marks. If you are the least bit mechanicaly inclined the job is pretty easy. Half the battle is finding the confidence to tear into it. good luck!!

Valve adjustments really aren't bad once you learn how. My first time, I had a friend who is a mechanic walk me through. Now I can do it just fine on my own. So far I've only done screw type adjusters though, no shims yet (and not looking forward to it).
