i have a 1981 honda cb400t hawk. but its got some bad rust holes in the gas tank. so much so its eaten all the way though. so im looking for a new one. i found one on line that looks like mine same model but its one year younger then my bike its a 1980? my question is would the tank off the 1980 model fit my 1981 model? an answer asap would be amazing! thanks

There are different part numbers between the 1980 and the 1981, which means something has changed between the model years.
Can it be made to fit? Probably, with some modification. These tanks are still listed as available in OEM, so worst case scenario, you can just buy a stock tank for it and know it will fit. They run about $225.

i don't know the tank looks identical to the one i have. for the stock tanks availble in OEM where would i go for that? is there a website i can get one from?

225 sounds right around what im looking to spend. but so far all the ones i've seen are going for $400.
