The third annual Detroit Bike Week begins this Friday, July 27th. Billed as bigger and better than previous year's events, the rally will offer several sights to see and things to do over the weekend.
The event will be held at the Multi-Lakes Conservation Association in Commerce Township, Michigan. Lat year's event gathered around 10,000 motorcycle enthusiasts. Highlights for this year include an appearance by Ryan Hurst, who plays Opie on Sons of Anarchy, the FX cable channel's hit series about a California outlaw motorcycle club. Hurst will be appearing on Sunday at 11 am for a public meet and greet and will hang out for about 90 minutes. Afterward, a private meet and greet will be held with Hurst for about an hour. This will cost an additional $50 to attend. Hurst will also lead an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of Harley Davidson motorcycles to ride on a single organized ride. Hurst will finish the day by giving away a custom bobber built by Poor Boy Choppers to one lucky event attendee. The event also features a custom bike show, motorcycling classes, cage fights, a motocross jumping and stunt exhibition, demo rides, burnout pits, a poker run, and a bike blessing. There will be about $20,000 in prizes given away during the event. Everything from wing eating to tattoo contests to bikini contests are scheduled. Live music will be performed by multiple bands all weekend. Close to 100 vendors will also be hawking their wares at the event. More information can be found at: http://detroitbikeweek.com
