Hello everyone!
I recently got very interested in riding motorcycles and decided to purchase a learner bike. So I went ahead and got myself a 2011 TVS Apache RTR 180cc. The thing is, I'm planning on getting a Harley Davidson 883 Iron when I feel that I've gotten the hang of riding a motorbike. So my question is, do you guys think the Apache will be a good enough learner bike for the jump to a heavier Harley Davidson? Thanks in advance. |

yeah fine. no problem.
i'm not sure it's got enough power for the freeway, so just stick around local roads. but there's a lot you can learn on the small bike. you'll be fine when it's time to go to a Harely. :-) dT |

Once they get comfortable with the controls and dealing with traffic proficiently, it's not difficult for most people to switch up to a larger motorcycle.
Any new motorcycle will feel a bit different and need some practice time, but it's not that bad.

You will like the HD. Good, solid, dependable bike. Lots of accessories available. Don't let a home tell you it is a girls bike. It is only a girls bike if a girl owns it.
How are you learning to ride? MSF? Ralph

Thank you all for your replies. You've all been really encouraging.

Most Kuwaities don't attend any official training before riding their motorbikes, some don't even bother with getting a license and a lot of them don't wear any sort of protective gear. I don't have the same attitude and I'm trying to be as responsible as possible. About the Iron, do people really think it's a girls bike? Seems like a pretty manly looking bike to me and my friends... |

"Girl's bike" is a joke, nothing more. It is the smallest engine displacement in the HD line up, both the 883cc and the 1200 cc. I have never heard anyone call my bike a girl's bike. I have had County police and a State Troopers open their windows and tell me that I have a nice bike.

maybe you are right. I guess the iron is a manly bike. I was thinking of normal sportsters. Sorry.
