Hello All,
I am hoping to find a Honda geek on here who could help me out. My hubby and I purchased a beautiful CB550F. The title states its a 1976 but doing some searching and looking at pictures everything points to a 74! Is there anything we can specifically look for on the bike to know for sure what year the bike is. We did the obvious and looked at all the tags and badges on the bike and they too say 76, we just don't see it! LOL... I am sure you are all laughing who is reading this, but it is a true delema... any one have any suggestions or a website that I can go to, please don't be shy. |

Honda didn't use the 17-digit standard coding in 1976. All vehicles after 1981 were required to use it.
If it's the case that the VIN number is is an old 12 or 13-digit number, the number after the dash is the year designation. 1975 models began with the VIN number CB550F-10XXXXX 1976 models began with VIN number CB550F-20XXXXX 1977 models began with VIN number CB550F-21XXXXX They made the CB550K in 1974, but not the "F" model.
