So I did my oil change, and the manual says 20w-40(Yes) Now I only had available 10-40 or 20-50. I ended up with 20-50 but after learning how those weights work I think I would have been better off with 10-40 since I live in Phoenix and ride all summer.

So I went to the manual again to make sure and it says recommended oil 20w-40 Yamalube. So I went to Yamalube's site and even they don't make 20-40. wtf?

Am I better off with 10-40 or 20-50. they do make a 15-50, would that be closest and best?

You picked correct - 20w50 is the better choice in warmer weather....you did fine.

They discontinued the 20w40 in 2008....not sure how old your bike is.

Castol and AMSOIL both off the top of my head make a 20w40 oil.....so if you decided to stick to the exact weight it can be found.
