I was thinking about that just the other day (as I was passing a freshly mowed lawn and felt my nose itching). You know what would be worse- sneezing while wearing an open face or half helmet. With the full face, just open the faceshield until you can get home and clean it off, with the open face or half and if you sneeze into the wind you'll get a face full of it right back at you (ick). Luckily neither has happened to me (yet).
So, I guess it is my turn...Have you ever had a great ride, doing everything right, and feeling pretty good, just to stall out as you got home? My apartment parking garage has a speed bump right at the gate that you have to have your front tire on for the gate to open. It takes a little extra gas on the trottle to get over it from a stop without stalling. I've done it several times now, and it seems that every time it happens there has to be an audience.
Uhh since I am just getting back into riding, I stalled my bike at a light the other day. Thank heavens for helmets, no one could see my red face very well.
I wear a full head open face helmet so sneezing is not too much of a problem, other than getting it on the windshield, or tank.
Has anyone ever gotten bugs in their teeth. I did once, and got laughed at when I stopped for a refreshment at a local saloon.
Not in my teeth b/c of my FF helmet. But I did once have a bug zip underneath the chin and die from hitting the inside of the face shield. It then just laid there, dead, right in front of my nose until I could stop someplace.
OK, next question - Have you ever .... tried to change your gloves at a stoplight, ended up dropping one on the ground and held up a whole line of traffic after the light turned green?
Hah, not quite. one time in the winter, my hands were freezing so I balled them up inside the palm of the glove, then the light changed! I got freaked out about holding up traffic so i rode the next block using my fists basically
Have you ever been riding along and get an itch under your helmet so bad that you had to pull over and take your helmet off to scratch it before it drove you crazy?
I've had an itch drive me crazy, but I've never pulled over for one
Have you ever gotten a little crowded below the belt after a long ride, then at the next stoplight you stand up to adjust yourself, only to find the person next to you staring at you? hah...
I've eaten my share of bugs, have you ever had a saddle bag or other piece of hardware come loose and lay against a pipe?
I had a bag work its way loose and lay on top of the pipe on my V-star and actually catch fire.
Worse yet it was on a ride with 300+ other bikes.
Yes, I've sneezed inside a FF with the visor closed. Thankfully, it was a dry sneeze.
Have you ever had a great ride, doing everything right, and feeling pretty good, just to stall out as you got home?
Fortunatly, I live in the country and haven't embarrased myself except to the dogs by stalling out.
Has anyone ever gotten bugs in their teeth.
Thankfully, no, I've always had a FF helmet.
have you ever had a saddle bag or other piece of hardware come loose and lay against a pipe?
No, but I lost a bag of books I had bungied to the passenger seat once.

Bugs in teeth, no. Sneezed in helmet, yes. Dropped glove at light, yes when I was cleaning up after the sneezes. The people behind me must of been wondering what the heck was going on. First they saw my head go into a violent convulsion twice (the sneeze, then a a second one) then me taking a glove off to wipe then drop it. I felt like a fool. I once caught a bumble bee in the inside of my ff helmet (had visor up) and all I kept hearing was a buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and crawling around by my cheek and ear area until I was able to pull over safely and remove it. Luckily I wasn't bitten.
Of the questions so far I have stalled my bike out a few times now getting used to my new Shadow. I have not eaten any bugs yet mostly because I have a ff helmet, but when I was using an open face helmet I did have quite a few bees and other bugs smack me in the cheek and around my head. Those things hurt!
Now for my question: Have you ever been riding along and get an itch under your helmet so bad that you had to pull over and take your helmet off to scratch it before it drove you crazy? Yes, this has happened to me.
worse than that, i actually threw up in mine.
yes with the visor part closed.
all down the neck of my leathers etc.
i wasn't well at all.
very nearly followed through too due to my jacket being zipped to my pants.
not a nice experience, and a lesson in how not to ride with gastric flu lol
Shoot I just did this like 30 minutes ago. Oh I am sure I was being watched. I plopped the helmet on, then put on my gloves, and tried to do the loop de loop on my helmet. Uh, then off come the gloves and helmet because it was hot. Stood there for a few seconds, and started all over again. Candid camera would have had me dead in the water. Geez, it is hard to get old!
1) No (skid lid, no shield to sneeze in)
2) No (250' hill climb dirt drive, don't dare stall out)
3) No (keep mouth closed, no bugs in teeth this way)
4) No (bike stripped of all gear, nothing to drop off)
5) No (gloves stay on till stopped, this way can't drop)
6) Yes (but kept helmet on, only to later find live bug in helmet)
7) No (always crowded down there so used to it)
8) Yes (put gloves on first many times, and also forgot goggles until after with same results)
Now the question, have you ever been kamikazeed by a suicidal bat at 60 mph? (ouch)
I like this thread porange, much fun, needs sticky.
I did a projectile sneeze in mine, and quite a bit of "material" came out and got stuck on the inside of the helmet. It was thick and I could feel it touching my mouth the whole ride.

No, but once I ran out of gas leaving my home, and just got the bike and couldn't figure out how to turn the pet **** ....
Has anyone ever gotten bugs in their teeth.
Thank gosh....NO! At least that I am aware of anyway!!!
have you ever had a saddle bag or other piece of hardware come loose and lay against a pipe?
No, but I had a bill to pay in the saddle bag and it got sucked out of the bag!
have you ever .... tried to change your gloves at a stoplight, ended up dropping one on the ground and held up a whole line of traffic after the light turned green?[/I]
Yes have tried to readjust gloves, but not dropped one....
Have you ever been riding along and get an itch under your helmet so bad that you had to pull over and take your helmet off to scratch it before it drove you crazy?
Yes, I have done that, even had to brush my hair once, it was itching so bad!
Have you ever gotten a little crowded below the belt after a long ride, then at the next stoplight you stand up to adjust yourself, only to find the person next to you staring at you?
NOPE!!:coffeescreen:
Now the question, have you ever been kamikazeed by a suicidal bat at 60 mph?
Nope other birds though...if that was what you were talking about...
my question:
Have you ever put on your helmet, then had to blow your nose????
This happens all the time!!!
haven't sneezed in my helmet , yet ... im sure it'll happen ... bah
flying birds ? nope, but hit something that nearly wrecked my sunglasses when I was riding a mile to a friend's house and passed by the forest preserve....
bags, stuff, falling off /catch fire on you ? hmmm on my old vt500 shadow I hit a nasty bump that unlatched the flimsy storage compartment and my bike lock, pack of smokes, a few tools spilled out behind me. Oh, total newb moment of warming up my bike and my helmet was still attached to the lock and part of it was on the exhaust pipe... that was awesome.
lastly, have you ever had your blood run cold because you're coming to a stop and your shoelace/pant leg gets caught on the footpeg and you nearly miss dropping yourself at a light!?!?! = P

There is one pair of pants that I have that I will never wear riding again because they are cuffed at the ankles. I wore them once and the cuffs were constantly hooking onto the pegs, there were a few times that I turned white because I couldn't put my foot down. Scary feeling.
Have you ever forgotten to shift down only to try and start off in 5th gear at a busy intersection only to stall out in the middle of it so that everyone watched you restart, shift down, and get going again? Yeah, I did that last night.
I learned my lesson on my first ever ride last year.. I forgot to shift down and I tried to pull away in 2nd gear. I didn't know what the problem was at first so I stalled like 3 times at the head of a queue. Haven't done that one since!
I have another one:
My new Honda has the fork lock separate from the ignition, and I'm not sure how many other bikes are like this, but have you ever fired up your bike, hopped on and then realized the forks were still locked? I have to turn the bike back off, take the key out and use it to unlock the forks. This has happened a few times, but I'm getting better.
have you ever...wiped your bike completely down, thinking it is really nice and shiny the night before ....take it out in the day light and it has smears all over the chrome?
Suicidal bats...nope
Locked forks, don't have but still do that with locked handlebars. Try to turn them when I get on..sigh...reach over and turn the key.
No chrome to polish!! Hose and wipe
Have you ever put on your summer riding clothes, summer clothes in general, and they shrunk over the colder months?
Shrunk? I like that word. Sounds much better then I got fat as hell!!!!
Here's one. Have you ever forgotten to shift down only to try and start off in 5th gear at a busy intersection only to stall out in the middle of it so that everyone watched you restart, shift down, and get going again? Yeah, I did that last night.
Have you ever left your turn signal on when cruising??
I saw a guy riding yesterday, up ahead of me a bit, that didn't have any idea his blinker was on! I must have been behind him for about 2 miles.
I've never forgotten a piece of gear per say, but one brisk morning I left in a hurry without putting the windproof liner in my jacket. Hoo boy that was a chilly ride.
I have one bike with automatic cancelling blinkers and one without. I never remember to stop the things. I do not know how much more expensive the self cancelling ones are, but why can they at least not be an option on all bikes?
Being a new rider, and used to cars with self-cancelling blinkers, remembering to cancel my blinkers is one of the things that is hardest to get used to. I am getting better.
How many have gone out, mostly geared up, but forgot a piece of gear?
On Saturday, I went for a ride, geared myself up, went out and realized I forgot my boots the first time I put my feet down. I had on shoes with soles that grip well, but with my ankles unprotected I felt quite naked. I rode around the block but felt so uncomfortable that I had to head back home and change out of my shoes and into my boots.
I'm pretty good about the blinkers. I used to forget my gloves in the saddle bags. I would be riding along..somethings not right here. Ah ha..gloves
You ever riding, see a big bug coming your way and try to duck a bit to avoid hitting it with your helmet?
I've gotten distracted and SPRAYED gas... that sucked. What a mess.
Anyone lost bits of bike while riding?
I was on the freeway last weekend, went to downshift, and thought I heard a weird sound from below. Went to put my left foot down and... NO PEG! Had to stop at the next exit and move one of the passenger pegs up.
Sneezed inside helmet several times, never a mess though
No bug in the teeth FF helmet
no saddlebags so cant catch them on the pipes.
No flying birds
Tried changing gloves before - never dropped them, but definately held up traffic because of it.
Definately have gotten my pants caught on my foot pegs before and lost my balance a little
Since im still a newbie driver - Have you ever either missed the clutch or forgot it, shifted, then got startled by the bike jerking.
