Default Headed for Barber

Tickets are bought, camping paid for, Ready to head to the Barber Vintage Festival! Now all I need is October to get here. Anyone else planning to go other than Mike (LWRider)?

You will have a great time. Never been to the festival, but have been to the museum. It is what I imagine heaven will be like.

I attend every year. If I haven't sold my little Suzuki by then, I'll be taking it up there to try to find a buyer in that more vintage oriented audience.

See all ya'lls up there! Also, looks like I got a preliminary go-ahead to proceed from there to the Ozarks for a couple days after the festival for a bonus ride!

Look for me (when I am not out riding) at the H-E-L USA spot in the swapmeet area. I'll be bringing a couple boxes of the Capt's books, too (hint, hint).

Cheers,

Mike

See you there Mike! All us forum people should try to hook up somewhere Saturday afternoon. Mike, I bought the last book right after it came out on ebook, got myself a little "crash collection" going!

You can ride along with us, if you want. I usually ride to Pinetta, FL, and meet up with some friends and then ride the rest of the way up with them. They usually have a small group, maybe four or five riders, and a support vehicle because they show at the swapmeet and have to haul a lot of stuff up. They take smaller roads up from there. They are a nice bunch and I am sure they would be happy to include you. Of course, if I go on to Arkansas from there I won't be riding home with them myself, but you could ride back with them on Sunday and home from North Florida on your own.

Cheers,

Mike

Not sure I will be making that run...would love to in October, but working and right now my bike is torn up in the garage, waiting on the gasket for the alternator cap, picked up the stator and pickup coil again!!! today...hopefully that is the problem...I have two good stators but the pickup coils are going bad...and you have to buy them in a set from Yamaha...;/ won't know about riding until after next week...to see if that is really the problem....

Yes, it is very family oriented (at least until night in the swapmeet area after hours!).

There is one of the best motorcycle museums in the world on site five stories tall and stunning. All the while there are vintage bike races running on the GP track and on the dirt and trail tracks out back. There is a big antique motorcycle auction (Bator IIRC) and a huge antique and vintage motorcycle part (and whole bikes) swapmeet going on, and a nice big Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club area with their own bike show and another for Motorcycle Classics and their own show. There are also vendors of various stuff, mainly manufacturers. This year Triumph is the main sponsor of the event so I expect them to be there in force this time. On top of all that, there are some great roads to ride in the general area. Camping is available on site and a free tram runs around the place continually. Food is expensive in the motorsports park (except for the VJMC dinner and pancake breakfast) so eating off premises will save you some dough.

Cheers,

Mike
