I bought this unseen from a friend of a friend. I have this one picture. He said it was a Honda Dream, but it clearly isn't. Can anyone identify what this is? I'm kinda new to this, and I plan on having it restored.

looks kind of like an old CB160. The Dream would be a CA160 and the scrambler a CL160. Might be older than that, with the kind of odd shaped tank. It looks pretty complete and could make a fun ride.

A friend said it looked like a CB72, which seems to be about the same as a CB160. I paid $125 for it, I plan to fix it up and make it into a fun cruising bike. I can't seem to find one with that exact tank...

Most Dreams I remember had frame that was two pieces of stamped steel, welded along the center line, and broad fenders. That frame is tubular, like my CB450, and the '66 305 Super Hawk I used to own. The tank looks like '68 or older; that orange reflector would have been a Honda symbol.

Here's a restored 1968 Honda CB160 for comparison. Everything looks the same besides the tank. I'm picking this up tomorrow, no title, so I need to know what this thing is for an accurate bill of sale (I live in Alabama, pre-1975, don't need a title). Can anyone advise? Thanks for your help!

What is the serial number on the engine - the first 5 or 6 characters should pin it down.

The tank, frame, forks, front fender, foot pegs and headers are CB160, the frame doesn't have the mounting bracket needed for the CL160 side pipes. also you don't see many CL's with a luggage rack, The seat appears to be a CL with the front lip raised up, maybe why they aren't fully mounted.

Never restored an old motorcycle, but for an estimate on restoration of an old car, make your best guess, then triple it. You won't be too far short.
Seriously, looks like a money pit. Parts for a motorcycle that is almost 50 years old are not that easy to find and the motorcycle in the picture is going to need a lot of parts. Good luck.

I'd look up what the guys are doing with them that race them. If it's too hard to restore, go cafe racer. There's a big following for that in the northwest corner of the U.S.

You'd be surprised. I'm restoring a 1964 Benly and if you don't mind waiting on the slow boat from Thailand, almost everything has been available. Granted some bits are a bit pricey (there's component in the fuel petcock that isn't included in rebuilt kits...a $1.50 piece of stamped metal cost closer to $20.) But it can be done.

Looks like about a 65 or 66 Honda 160 Sport. There was a Dream with leading link forks (for touring?) and this was the sport version. Later there was a CL160 which was the street scrambler with high pipes, etc. to look like it could go in the dirt -but don't ever try it!!
