Question: Saw this craigslist ad for an 84 Sabre looked like a good deal but wanted your guys thoughts. Says it needs a new rear shock soon (he said that through text) if so how complicated is that and how much to replace? Is this a good deal for price and everything? Let me know.

It is tough to tell from the 2 pics. You are going to have to spend some money to replace the tires and shock.

The instruments are known to be temperamental on the Sabres and very expensive to replace.

If the gauges work then he is at least close on the asking price. Offer $750

I used to have a V65 Sabre. It was a great bike, but it developed three problems that are somewhat common on the V65 Sabre and Magna:

1. Noisy top end. Excessive cam wear caused by insufficient lubrication. Holeshot.com has a kit to add more top end lubrication.
2. Weak 2nd gear.
3. Cracked fork brace.

You can google for more info on those weak points.
