Default understanding service maintenance

I guess my maintenance manual is pretty standard, but not clear really.
For example it says bring in for service at so many miles or months.

Now as a noob I don't ride that much, should I just ignore the month's part and bring in solely when reaches the miles? thanks

I'm guessing probably bring in when reaches miles since months seems a bit silly
since sometime's could be in storage or just riding a few miles at a time.. THANKS

Some items, like the brake fluid and oil, should be changed out on the time schedule if the mileage hasn't been reached before that time.
