Seems to me horses would be safer. They are slower, you do not have to balance them, and they are not usually ridden in the middle of traffic.
I ride both. And for many years I broke colts - and THAT can be one of the more dangerous things you can do on a horse. So, I'm not a newbie to horses and I feel safer on my MC. The difference is the MC is a machine and acts quite reliably, subject to my decisions and the laws of physics. The horse, however, has a mind of it's own, great speed and a lot of power. Horses are also not typically ridden with the safety gear worn when riding a bike. And off-road can be far more treacherous than in traffic. An admitted adrenaline junkie, I ride both (and participate in a variety of "dangerous" activities), and think the amount of danger is equal, differing only in the type of risk involved.

Yeah, but you're not hot, RonK... cuz there's not enough purple in your matching leathers!

RezZ, I love your post even though it was written a while back. I am a female rider that wishes there were other women that I could ride with. I know of a few but most of them don't ride as often mostly because of family obligations, work or financial reasons. I always ride with the boys and they love my company and I love them. I have not met a man that can out ride me. Check out my website to see what I do. My last ride to Central America was a 15,000 mile/42,428 kilometer ride with most of it alone. This is my site, hope to hear from you guys... http://www.missrider.com/
I had to postpone my ride to Alaska this coming summer because I would love a male companion for that ride. Will be heading to Alaska the summer of 2014 with hopes that I will have a friend by then. Otherwise, I will be riding alone as usual. This past summer I rode to Sturgis SD for bike week and there were many more females riding their own. Things are changing guys...

Hey missrider. How you been? I saw you were looking for a Alaska rider. Wish it could be me. I will have to make due with a Wets Vriginia/Lake Michigan/Lake Superior circle ride this year. But a ride to Alaska is on my bucket list!

By the way, I asked you about your engine bars and you did not know who they were by. I found out they are Hepco-Becker (from newbonneville.com). Looks like they will work with my Arrow two-into-ones, too! Now, I just have to find the $

If you ever find yourself down Florida-way, be sure to let me know!

Cheers,

Mike

Hello Mike,

I have been very busy riding to say the least.
Unfortunately I have to postpone my ride to Alaska until 2014. I am seeking a partner for that ride.
Hey, I was planning on doing a ride around the great lakes too, easy for me because I have family and friends to host me. Still debating if I should do it.

I was invited to ride to Florida the first of second week in August. Debating about that too. It all depends on how well I do with the Newfoundland ride. Really looking forward to enjoying the cold Atlantic ocean in those beautiful islands up there.

Happy New Year...
Madeleine (aka - Missrider)

I will be blogging (and possibly doing a magazine article) on the ride if you want a preview. It will be on the blog in my signature. Don't know if I will blog on the road or after I return. I will be back very early in June. Arriving in the UP somewhere around the 21st of May.

I'll be around in August as far as I know. We are in one of two "hilly" areas of peninsular Florida.

Cheers and good travels!

Mike
