Anyone on here have knowledge/experience with the 70's 2-stroke enduros?
I want to restore mine and it's missing quite a few parts. Most of them I can find on ebay pretty cheap, but I am having trouble tracking down carb and motor rebuild parts. I've found pistons and gaskets but nothing else really.
I'm new to bikes, work on my Powerstroke F350 a lot and cars, but never bikes before.
If you have any parts sources or knowledge to pass on to me please chime in. I'd like it to be a good commuter/trail bike when I'm done. It doesn't need to be perfect, just functional and running well (and street legal).
Thanks for the info. I've got it to start pretty easy and it'll run for about a minute or two, but then it'll poop out and not want to restart. I'm pretty sure it's carb related...
I've seen some rebuilt Mikuni carbs for about $60-75 so I might go that route...
my TS185 (1973) would die if i let the throttle go below 3k rpm
i ordered a carburetor rebuild kit and replaced everything, bike now runs pretty good but definetely needs to be tuned better
by the way the exact carb on your bike is (should be) a Mikuni VM36 round slide, almost all issues relating to the engine die-ing or running poorly are carburetor related, let your carb SOAK in carb cleaner for between 24-72hrs, then take an air compressor and blow air through all jet passages.
Good tread. I have a 73' TS185 and my dad has a 72' TS185. They have been sitting for about 15 years now. I would like to restore them for running around town a little. The 72 always ran good, the 73 always loaded up with fuel and would wind up all the time. I'm guessing carb issues, but every time I mess with a carb it doesn't end up good. lol
