Many of the guys that have said this didn't have any bike at the time.

Anyways, what do you guys think? For me Sportsters are kind of like riding a moped, they might be fun but I'm not sure I want my friends to see me on one.
Yeah, I get that every now and then, but it usually ends when my Girl's bikes stomp those big twins in every category except number of cup holders.

I used to have a picture of Sonny Barger riding a Sporster "back in the day." I'd challenge anyone to walk up to that old man and tell him he was on a "girls bike."

Those same people that say a sportster is this or that, are the ones that feel inadequite in other ways. They need something big and expensive to show off on. They are just uneducated, so talk slowly and clearly to them.
The Sportster is the sports bike of yesteryear. Nible, lean and mean, is what a Sporty is and has been for over 55 years now. I suppose these same people also say the modern sports bike riders are girly as well.

I see a lot of chicks riding softails around here. A chick's bike is...whatever she decides to buy and ride.
I chose my 1200 Roadster ('08) because it is exactly what I wanted...a lighter, faster Harley.

What color did you get? I have the same year and model, in metal flake crimson.

Mine was crimson red sunglow, but have since had a custom paint job by Colormania. It is now birch white and calypso red, somewhat in the style of a '57 sportster.

I come from a long line of Shagmores. My daddy was a Shagmore, and so am I.
Back to the subject...I think the Sportster Low is likely a chick bike. My Roadster has a tall seat height (almost 30") therefore is certainly not a chick bike.

I see a lot of chicks riding Heritage Softails. Likely carpet munchers too.

Why does a 30" seat height preclude a bike from being a chick's bike?

Because some biker chicks don't have very long legs.

A 30 inch seat height would be just about perfect then.

Sporties are AWESOME! I ride a Road King Classic because I have a very long commute, but I'd ride a Sportie any time!

For the record - Chicks are cool on ANY bike!

Now I'm "Sporting" a big woody.

If I ever come across a old Sportster for the right price at the right time I'll own it. I love the way they look all bobbed out with a big fat front tire.

When I get done with the Magna, I just might do that. Finding a cheap one in this area that isn't totalled is the tough part.

Around here they're fairly inexpensive, except for every now and then you get some fool that thinks, because they spent thousands on "upgrades" that they should get a return on that. You can get a decent Ironhead for about 3K, and a good Evo for maybe 4-5K, depending on the miles and condition.
