Hello from Ohio.
I took the Harley Davidson learn to ride course and recently obtained my license. I just spent some time looking for a bike. My main goal right now is just staying safe. |

Then don't buy a bike. It's inherently dangerous.
But a whale of a lot of fun!!! |

Staying safe should always be the number one goal, no matter how much experience a rider has.
Riding, like many activities is somewhat risky. A collision that would cause a fender-bender in a car can mean serious injury for a rider. The less a rider "hangs it out" by taking unnecessary risks, the better the odds of staying in one piece. Being alert, getting plenty of practice, and thinking ahead to avoid risky situations are things a safe rider should always be doing.

It's definitely been interesting for me to experience riding for the first time (rode dirt bikes a bit, but this is my first cruiser). Drivers who aren't paying attention to the road or driving wrecklessly used to be a mild irritation before, and now it's a serious risk for my health and the health of my bike. I've never really needed my horn for much until I hopped on a bike, and now it saves my life.
