Anyone have experience with dual lens, full face helmets? I want to
buy a full face but I'm unsure about dual lenses. The full face helmets I tried on seem to restrict my field of vision, I don't want it compounded by two lenses. |

I have two. The quality of the interior lense on the second is significantly better. I only used the interior lense when ther was no other choice for the sun on the first helmet. On the second, I ride with both lenses down most of the time.

some full face helmets do cut down on peripheral vision.
too bad. I have a 3/4 helmet that I love for vision reasons ... I can see more out of that helmet than any other. But i wear my full face nearly all the time - esp. in city traffic. When you say "dual lens" are you talking about the helmets with an inner visor? Typically an inner sun visor?? If that's what you mean ... get one IF the helmet works for you. It's a great design feature. Just make sure the helmet fits your head really well, and vision is clear. You may lose some peripheral vision, but actual sight thru the visors should be clear and not blurred. dT |

Based on an article in Motorcyclist, I don't necessarily think buying a cheaper helmet of reasonable quality is less safe than getting a top of the line model. (You can read a PDF of the article here) Things have changed since then with Snell 2010 but I still kinda think the more expensive ones offer conveniences, not necessarily safety. As the signature says though, I might be clueless. ![]()

I have an LS2 dual visor helmet and I really like it. I am always wearing sunglasses and when I ride I just tucked them inside the helmet and rode with an HJC with a single clear lens. The dual visor is really nice because you dont need sunglasses IMO. With both visors closed, the noise is significantly reduced though.

I've had dual lens shields on all my snowmobile helmets since the 80s. They have dual shields to prevent fogging in the cold. My newest one has an additional retractable sun shield. I use a dual lens on the motorcycle also. Once you get used to them you'll never go back to not having one. At least I wont.
Edit,, if I wear my sun glasses and use the sun shield on the bike, everything black looks green. My wife however doesn't have the problem.Last edited by Team Elkhorn; 07-28-2012 at 10:25 AM.. |

My wife has a helemt with the inner sun shade she loves it.. I have a Bell Helmet with the transisions auto tinting lense.. I love it.. no worries about popping a visor up or down, it's always the right visor for the brightness.. or darkness...

I have a full face with the extra internal sun shield. Very handy. I ride often with the clear shield up and the sun shield down. Lets in plenty of air and still keeps the bugs out of your eyes.
