I am new to riding--since May. I took a beginners motorcycle class and it was great. I have a Suzuki DR200--a dual sport that I ride on a dirt road to work and back. The other day I must have been very tired because I neglected to put the kick stand down quickly enough and dropped it in slow-mo onto my leg. No big deal to me, but this morning the bike would not start, nor turn over at all. I'm thinking the clutch handle got jammed and there is a cut-off kill switch thing somewhere. Can anyone give me any help with where to look to see what the problem is? Thanks a lot... yeah, my face is red and I've got a sore butt from kicking myself all day today.
I had just turned the bike off, so it was not running when dropped. |

Hah, I'm replying to my own post. We did find a cut-off/kill line coming off of the clutch handle on the Suzuki DR 200 SE. We took it off, messed with it, and put it back together and the bike starts and runs perfectly now. Always good to learn something new every day and keep those synapses humming. Thanks to all for any comments.

With the clutch is there a switch on it? cause on my GS450l theres a saftey so you cant start it in gear when you pull the clutch in it makes the switch and you can start the bike then Id check and see if you have a clutch switch if you do see if the contacter is good either that or call your local dealer and ask them

You can also just join the ends together if you want to bypass the switch. You should always pull the clutch anyway when you start, and having a finicky switch like that on a bike that is likely see off road action is just a no-start condition waiting to happen, and it will happen 7 miles from your truck, which is where you left your toolkit. Just sayin...
