I rarely drink coffee but sometimes I have a craving for it, but because I always ride, I can never bring one with me to work. Today i said "Scew it" and wedged the cup between the bars and the windshield. is this a common practice among coffee drinking bikers?

I've never tried to carry coffee that way. I don't even know if I have the space to carry one there. I'll have to look.
If it doesn't spill, I think it's a great idea.

It didn't spill, but the Mcdonalds was only a block away from my work. Maybe I'll go to a farther one tomorrow. i have an extra pair of clothes in a filing cabinet at work in case I get drenched with rain, but it maybe used for coffee tomorrow. I'm let you guys know.
Also, anyone have a cupholder on their bike? |

Hmm. I'm a daily coffee drinker. Usually 2 cups spaced out in the morning, and one in the afternoon. I ride almost daily now, so I miss having my cup to drink as I drive to work. At least I feel coffee is better than guzzling energy drinks like others I know! A cup holder would be nice, but look weird on sport bike IMHO.
Also, another topic, occassionally I like to dip when I travel long distances (I know, bad habit) When I ride I can't do that because spitting in my full face helmet would be pretty nasty. The swedish snus is an alternative to that though. |

Since riding I've cut down my nicotine consumption by over 50%. Unless anyone knows how to smoke while riding in a FF helmet.

do you have a super-long straw that goes thru the visor of your helmet dude? or maybe an IV drip system ... chrome plated, of course :-) Dt |

Gay???? I sure wasn't going there! I dipped and chewed for years and just swallowed the stuff. I got a few others to try it and make them sick too. It was a hoot. I stopped smoking, chewing and dipping 15 years ago now. I don't know how anyone can afford it now.

My bad. i had a professor who used to dip in class. I asked him if we could too, he said "yes, I suppose you can if you swallow it like me".
Never dipped class |

I smoke with a full face and bring my travel mug in a cup holder on the handlebars. Paper coffee cups don't work for me as they always spill on my tank as it seems I always find a good bump. I have wedged groceries between the handlbars and the windshield though including frozen pizza and a gallon of milk...gotta be creative when riding.

It's ok. For somebody that doesn't dip or only knows very seasoned dippers, I wouldn't expect them to know it wasn't a gay joke. The juice from the tobacco is very irritating to your throat and stomach. It would make me puke. But for seasoned dippers, they get so used to it that they just swallow the juice, "gutting it". It's also more convenient and less messy. So they always joke around that its "manlier" to gut it, hence the comment above
![]() Some of those seasoned guys are so good at hiding it when its in their mouth that you'd never know they were even doing it. That is until their talk a foot away from your face and have horrible breath, plus usually their gums aren't in tip top shape.... |

I've seen plenty of guys with cupholders, usually on big touring bikes. Been seeing a lot of bikes with water bottles hanging from their bars lately.

I find a xl leather coat can be loaded with stuff, I often will stop at a garage sale and just make sure will fit inside my jacket..often riding home I look like some one with the world's biggest beer belly... with a learner bike not keen on spending too much since will sell next season..

"any fabricators can make me a chrome plated straw?"
Don't use chrome plated steel. It'll be too heavy and if it flexes or gets bent the chrome will likely chip off. Use thin wall aluminum tubing, bend to shape with a brake line tubing bender, and polish to a chrome-like shine. |

I've just about worn my bungee net out.
I use the thing so much, it's just about completely stretched out. It's time for me to get another one.

There's a Cajun/creole place my roommate and I frequent about 5 miles from our house...we're there often enough that when they make the wrong order for someone they usually give it to us to take home (me being a starving college student and everything) and I'll wedge the to-go box between my windscreen and guages on my Katana. There's definitely a trick to it (you can't turn your forks too far or you'll dump it) but I haven't lost my left-overs yet lol

Saw a swinging cup holder aon an FL the other day.
Cargo nets are available at most dealers. "Unless anyone knows how to smoke while riding in a FF helmet." The questions here sometimes: Put the shield up. |

My bungee net's one of my favorite bike gizmos. I use it 3 or 4 times a week. It was only $6.00 at the dealers.

I just take my travel mug and place a piece of saran wrap on the top before screwing on the top. then I trow it in my backpack/tail bag. Makes it completely spill proof
That is how I get coffee to work.

I use a cup holder and travel mug. I could put a plastic cup with lid in the holder but whenever I do I find that the air across the top of the cup pulls the coffee out and sprays a fine mist all over my jacket. That doesn't happen with the tavel mug even when it is open for drinking.
