Hey everybody, I recently purchased a 98 sportster 1200 (first harley) and absolutely love it. However, before i bought it, the previous owner was having problems with the float bowl on the carb, something was causing it to stick open or something, not sure. So he took it to a local motorcycle shop that deals with strictly harleys, no big deal. Anyways, after about two or three weeks of riding, i noticed a yellowish tint of gasoline dripping down from the carb. I'm thinking all it might need is a new gasket for the float bowl but not quite sure? runs good and everything, it's just more of an annoyance thing and wanting to keep my bike clean and lookin good, any advice and solutions is much appreciated!
You will have to pinpoint where the leak is coming from exactly. If it's leaking from a gasket, the gasket needs to be replaced. If the fuel is dripping from the overflow, the float needs to be adjusted.
if it is a gasket, i think it would be the float bowl gasket because like i said, that's what they had apart right before i bought it, if that is what it is, is that an easy fix?
