Another newbie

Hello all, Im going to be heading out to get a 77 Kz650 tomorrow assuming everything is running well this'll be my second bike my other one which i was kinda talked into getting is quite the money pit at the moment and way to big for me to have any business starting on(83 vf1100 magna). Im a beginning rider and im buying my own bike because practicing on my dads 1200 buell firebolt scares the crap out of both of us. Im pretty sure this'll be a good starter bike im 6'0 and 190lbs and im just looking for a bit of advice before i get going.
