Default TV must see

CNBC's show called Ultimate Factories will air a special next Friday (8-24) at 9pm eastern time. They are going into Harley Davidson to show us how they make them. This is surely a must see to any motorcycle enthusiast.

Harley show in a quick post. Order parts from everywhere but America, bolt foreign parts together, stamp made in America on every square inch, hope people don't notice.

If you want to get into this, there is a thread in the HD forum already.

When you've heard the same bad joke over and over, it gets old.

The great thing about jokes that "get old" is that there is always some bit of truth in them. This truth always gives someone the red ass, this makes me smile more than the joke that "gets old"

If you throw in that the Spyder is not a motorcycle that would pretty much cover everything in one post !!!!

Not knocking any HD, but last month saw a fairly modern looking HD at the intersection it seems like it was going to shake apart..I kind of have a love'hate view of HD, just don't like an American icon that use's a lot of oversea's parts.. if I'm wrong re parts I stand corrected... not stirring the pot since never owned one and actually will stop to have a look at them if time permits..they must be doing something right.. I stopped to gawk at a HD today the front wheel was solid metal with flames engraved how cool is that.....

12% to 18% of the parts used are made overseas, depending on the model. Generaly, it's the "smaller" parts such as gaskets, wiring, bulbs, switches and so forth, and they are made inplaces like Britain, Germany, Brazil, and Japan. Hey, it's a world wide economy and HD uses the best value parts suppliers they can.

As for the shaking, most newer bikes, when left stock, shake very little as the engines are either iso-mounted or have an internal balancer. (Which is a pretty cool bit of engineering if you've ever seen it.) Other bikes, especialy if modified, can shake like a muthahfuggah. One of mine, for example shakes quite noticably at idle, but smooths right out at speeds from above 55 to say, 110 or so. For many, that shake is part of what they love about a Harley.

I've got a love/hate relationship too.

I love my bike and I hate the way I'd love to get another HD! ...or maybe a Triumph also...
