I am one of one of those women that ride her motorcycle extreme distances. Here is my story.
This year, ride to Panama from the Boston area. Maybe I should direct you to my website, I cover all the details there. http://www.missrider.com/ Write something to me, words of encouragement are always good. I will be riding my Triumph Bonneville around 15,000 miles/24,140.16 kilometers in 40 days starting June 23, 2012. |

Wow!! I wish I had the time to do that too!. How does the Triumph hold up for you? I love my Triumph (I have an '06 T100) but I wouldn't trust it on such long rides. Besides the maintenance issues of the chain oil/adjustment every few hundred miles you have a valve adjustment at 12K intervals. Mine (and a lot of others) have valve cover leaks and mine died this past Sunday (only 3,000 miles on it) from some yet to be determined electrical issue. Please post back on your progress; sounds like an unbelievably great ride.
P.S - The web site is great too ![]()

Hey Madeleine; I am outfitting my T100 for long distance riding. Not the distance you will be covering. With a couple mods I think the Bonnie make a fine long distance ride. I like that they are relatively light and have plenty of power for one upping. I am going to be adding a center stand (TEC as I have 2 into 1 Arrows and stock won't fit) and a Corbin saddle. I have already added a luggage rack. Good luck on your travels. I will be following and will post a link from my website.
Cheers, Mike

I read that the singer Jewel enjoys long-distance riding on her BMW GS. The article I saw was about a ride from her current home in Texas to where she grew up in Alaska.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for your nice comments and concerns. I rode my Triumph Bonneville to the Panama Canal and back home as I said I would. 6 of us crossed the Mexican border with a destination to reach the canal and back. Only 1 made it back into the United States alone, that was me Missrider. The boys had serious accidents, got lost or scared and shipped the bike back and one stayed in Panama. I rode back to the US alone... The ride was fantastic and currently planning a world tour in 5 years.. Sorry I have not posted, been extremely busy since I got back from the ride. Check out my current short summer rides this year and read my blog entries from the ride to Panama... This is the link to my site: http://www.missrider.com/ Madeleine (aka - Missrider) Last edited by missrider; 03-22-2013 at 06:59 PM.. Reason: added my name to post |
