Harley Davidson celebrates 110 years this Labor Day Weekend

Beginning Thursday, August 30th, the Harley Davidson Museum will host the largest bike night of this year to kick off the motor company's 110th anniversary.

A custom motorcycle show is at the top of the bill for the weekend. On Friday and Saturday, pro-build show motorcycles will be on display. Sunday, an amateur show will give custom motorcycle owners a chance to compete. All proceeds from the amateur show will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Both shows are open to the public and are free to attend.

“The Harley-Davidson Museum is the place to be during the Labor Day holiday as we host our expanded Custom Bike Show Weekend,” said Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum. “This weekend offers something for everyone, and gives visitors a chance to see the more artistic side of motorcycling through the professional and amateur custom bike shows and the many artisans that will be on site.”

Also on tap for the weekend is the official 2013 model launch party and 110th anniversary festivities. Live bands will be featured all weekend.

It will be the last weekend for people to see the special summer exhibit, Worn to be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket. The exhibit follows the history of the leather jacket from a functional piece of clothing to a cultural icon. After Labor Day, the exhibit is moving to the EMP Museum in Seattle, Washington.
