not sure what it is going to look like. but it ought to be interesting. i just find it odd that they are moving to New Bern... we have a helmet law in NC... can't see too many of the purists turning out for it... but you never know. there is a lot of animosity towards myrtle beach right now.

Here is a long day ride for you that includes the Snake plus my two of my favorite roads in the country: US321 north of Boone and NC181. I love sweepers! This is set up to ride out of Boone but you can get onto the loop any where. I suggest you take US321 to Lenoir and take NC90 to get on the loop.
Stay in Boone NC and leave trailers at the hotel.
From Boone:
US321 north (sweeping curves along Watagua Lake)
TN67 east to Mountain City
US421 north to Shady Valley (http://shadyvalleycountrystore.com/)
TN133 north to Damascus
(don't speed in Damascus)
US58 east to Mouth of Wilson
VA16 south (will become NC16)
eat at: http://www.shatleysprings.com/ or visit: http://www.ashecountycheese.com/
NC16 south to Wilkesboro
NC268 west to US321(if you have GPS and can follow it to NC90 follow it) If no GPS:
US321 south
NC90 west to Collettsville
(At BP station) turn west on Adako Road west (if you don't mind hard packed gravel ride back Brown Mountain Beach Road and walk down to Wilson's Creek, It's beautiful)
NC181 north (my favorite road in NC!) Stop in here for a smoked chicken sandwich or an ice cream cone but do stop in and tell Christa I sent ya http://www.christas.com/
US221 north back to Boone or, if you have never been across the viaduct, take the Parkway.

I love those rides. We took 90 to colletteville and continued on when the pavement ended one day last winter. It was great!! We rode around Brown Mountain and ended up on a paved road by Grandfather Mountain. It was beautiful. We looked across at the viaduct. We also found a house with millions of coffe cups nailed on it by a river.

I have never done any dual sporting but I'd like to have taken a dual sport back in the Edgemont Globe area. We drove our van up the Globe Road to Blowing Rock a couple of times.

Gastonia here! I only go up towards Cornelius for hibachi food or Chicago dogs - if I ever get up there on the bike I'll be sure to holler! I can let you know when we have events down here (I'm with the Guardians - if you ever want to know what we are about you can message me, or come to a meeting on the third Sunday at Friends in Belmont). There are also two weekly Bike Nights - Mondays at Jax in Belmont and Wednesdays at Hooters in Gastonia!
