What is the proper way to adjust the timing chain on this bike.
Review: I bought this bike a month ago it's been in storage for 4 years. Cleaned it all up, cleaned the tank, rebuilt the carb, new tires and tubes, new clutch cable, changed the oil, sparkplug, points, chain, battery, gas valve and new side covers. The bike runs and idles real nice has 3300 miles on it. Just trying to make sure everything it right before I take it out on the highway....thanks |

I'm sure you already got the answer someplace else by now, but here we go.
get a timing light. set your idle to 1200 rpm take the cover off of your alternator rotor. Left side. two screws. shine the strobe light on the rotor. You want the "F" mark on the rotor to be lined up with the mark at idle. If it's not lined up, you'll remove the points cover. There are two screws that hold down the points place, you'll loosen them so you can rotate the plate, adjust the plate until it lines up. |

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try when the weather gets a little cooler.
It's been hotter than you know what. |
